steve harrington mid twenties, taurus (24th april) he/him, italian, preschool teacher, bisexual, nicos dad, dyslexic, HOH, AuDHD and FTM.
he was born stephanie harrington, and realised that he didn’t feel like a girl from a young age, and started going by steph to feel more masculine. but even that didn't feel right, so he talked to his mom and she was extremely supportive, and convinced richard to let him transition (she threatened to divorce him and tell the world about his cheating) she gave him the name steve after months of trying to find a name that felt right.
he had top surgery very young because his parents paid good money for it (he didn’t get a hysterectomy because the hospital refused it) and he’s been dealing with periods for years. he has only ever came out twice after that, once robin on the bathroom floor at the mall, and once to tommy which did not go well causing a fall out. he doesn't know if the kids know nor does he care, they have bigger things to deal with.
he’s always known he was bi and had crushes on men before but never did anything about it because he was scared of being called a freak or a slur, when he moved to nyc he hooked up with a guy for the first time and got pregnant because the condom broke, he didn’t tell anyone about being pregnant and hid it by saying nico’s mom didn’t want him but it was all a lie. it was an easy lie since all his friends were in hawkins and he hadn't made any in nyc yet.
he hasn't had a serious relationship with anyone since nancy because he was worried about people finding out about about him, not that he's ashamed he just doesn't want to be objectified as a trans man. he so desperately wants to be loved and cared for by someone, anyone, but he’s terrified. terrified that they won’t want him, that he will get called bullshit again, that they will ridicule him.
